Following the reported case of question paper leak, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma summoned the secretary of the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA), Naranyaran Nath, and instructed them to cancel the HSLC exam.
The mathematics section of the Assam High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam was cancelled due to a reported question paper leak at a school in the Cachar district. Officials revealed that a student was caught using their mobile phone during the exam and had received answers via WhatsApp.
Upon hearing about the question paper leak, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma summoned the Secretary of the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA), Naranyaran Nath, and instructed them to cancel the exam in all centers where irregularities were reported. However, the SEBA officials did not comment on the incident.
At 9 AM on Monday, the Assam HSLC exam for mathematics commenced. However, at approximately 9:20 AM, a student was discovered using a mobile phone during the examination at a center in Cachar.
According to the deputy commissioner of Cachar district, Rohan Kumar Jha, who spoke to Hindustan Times, the student’s mobile phone revealed a WhatsApp group providing answers during the exam. The student was immediately expelled and a report is being sent to higher authorities.
According to Jha, this was an isolated incident and did not involve the leaking of any exam papers.
The individual stated that if the questions were already available to the public before the exam, it would be considered a case of a leak. Nonetheless, they confirmed that they had taken action against an individual who was caught using a mobile phone during the exam.
Shortly after the start of the HSLC mathematics exam, photos of the question paper began circulating on social media. This year, more than 4,23,000 students are taking the HSLC exams.
